World Cup Final 2010

After 30 days of action replays, shoddy tackles, questionable referee decisions (depending on which side you're gunning for ;P), penalty shootouts and last but not least, vuvuzuela-blowing, the World Cup finally comes to an end tonight, with the FINAL game. The flags in the doodle above show that it is the Netherland and Spain who are competing for the title!... This should be an epic battle!

Who do you think will win?

2010 FIFA World Cup™

This google doodle appeared on the 11th June 2010 (sorry I’m a bit late!), to commemorate the 19th FIFA World Cup Finals which began with a spectacular ceremony in Johannesburg. Most notable about this year’s World Cup is that it is the first time it has been held in an African Nation (South Africa). Thirty two teams will spend the next month competing for the title. Favourites to win include Brazil, Argentina, England and Spain. Maybe this year, we’ll see a rise in many underdog teams?

Who will you be gunning for?

Google Doodle 2nd April 2010.

Another month and another Google Doodle. Today is the 2nd day of April. The following doodle appeared on the Irish and UK's Google front page. Today's doodle celebrates the works of Hans Christian Andersons. He was a Danish poet and writer and if famous for numerous childhood fairy tales.

My most favourite of theses are The Ugly Duckling, The Little Match Girl, The Emperor's New Clothes and The Little Mermaid. Today it is 205 year anniversary of his birth.

Unlike previous attempts which were just a single doodle, today there is a whole serious of doodles.

Hans Christian Anderson tales are available in your local Library, Book Shop, online retailer (amazon).

Here's the description of the doodle concept;

As Seen Through My Crystal Ball

“My future begins at the centre of 'Google'. Myself as a fortune teller foresees everything around me. The future being squeaky clean, shiny and painted chrome, not by humans of course! We won't have to lift a finger with our advanced technology, like nanny robots and elevators to other planets. Future here we come!”
